SnapChange: A Second Letter from the Founder
October 30, 2026 · Soap Lake, Washington
Dear Friends,
SnapChange is one of approximately 21 startups and projects being sponsored and incubated by the Infinite Freedom Foundations of Washington State (IFFWA), a Washington-registered 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 88-0578639) based in Soap Lake, Washington.
It is a conceptual blockchain-oriented financial technology and community-development initiative focused on converting physical small-denomination currency—particularly pennies and other spare change—into digital SnapChange Tokens of Appreciation (also referenced as Tokens of SpareChange Appreciation). The project is designed to operate in conjunction with Pen Capital (the community-finance and financial-literacy program of IFFWA) and to support broader IFFWA objectives, including Freenomics education, the Soap Lake Coin Museum vision, local economic development, and related intellectual property such as The Penny King.
Core concept and mechanics
SnapChange seeks to modernize and revalue physical coinage that is increasingly exiting circulation (following the U.S. Mint’s cessation of penny production) by tokenizing it on blockchain infrastructure linked to Pen Capital. Conceptual designs describe:
- Physical pennies or other coins being collected, authenticated, or deposited (including via donation campaigns, mail-in programs, or potential AI-assisted counting tools integrated with platforms such as X Money).
- Conversion into digital SnapChange Tokens of Appreciation, with modeling that has included significant multipliers (for example, 100× coin-donation frameworks) to generate value for Soap Lake economic development, advertiser exposure, museum operations, and foundation initiatives.
- A stable or appreciation-oriented token ecosystem (public conceptual materials have referenced a $100 peg in certain models) backed by physical penny/coin reserves and numismatic assets.
- Integration with educational, cultural, and tourism elements centered on the planned Soap Lake Coin Museum (envisioned as a major facility) and related media projects.
These mechanics are intended to transform everyday “pocket change” into a vehicle for community capital formation, financial literacy under Freenomics principles, and philanthropic support for IFFWA’s charitable purposes.
Ecosystem context within IFFWA
SnapChange sits within the portfolio of incubating initiatives that also includes the University of Freenomics, Zero Interest Mortgage Corporation (ZIMCO), ACTS talent services, and various media and place-making projects. Public descriptions from IFFWA materials list it alongside Pen Capital and the University of Freenomics as particularly relevant for certain international outreach (including Hungarian-focused applications). It is frequently referenced in connection with The Penny King intellectual property, Soap Opera at Soap Lake content, and local Grant County / Soap Lake revitalization efforts.
Recent exploratory ideas include gamified marketing (for example, a Centimpede concept based on classic arcade mechanics for educational or promotional use) and cross-platform tools that could leverage smartphone cameras for coin identification and valuation.
Strategic objectives and implications
From an economic and community-development perspective, SnapChange challenges conventional treatment of low-denomination currency as negligible by aggregating micro-value into pooled resources for museum infrastructure, local jobs, tourism, and foundation programs. It aligns with IFFWA’s broader emphasis on alternative systems for finance, education, and place-making outside traditional banking and interest-bearing structures.
Technologically, it envisions blockchain tokenization combined with potential AI vision, payment-rail integrations (including X Money), and educational content. Culturally, it leverages numismatic interest and nostalgia around the penny’s phase-out to drive participation and awareness.
Legal, regulatory, and compliance pathways
As an incubating project under a 501(c)(3), any implementation must remain within nonprofit constraints, including avoidance of private benefit, proper donor stewardship, and compliance with Washington and federal rules governing charitable activities, fundraising, and related-party transactions.
Key considerations include:
- Securities and token characterization: Any offering or distribution of tokens must be carefully structured (for example, as pure donations, utility/appreciation tokens with no investment expectation, or through licensed partners) to avoid unregistered securities offerings. Conceptual private-placement language that has appeared in planning materials would require formal counsel review, accredited-investor limitations, and disclosure.
- Name and branding: Public-facing language uses Pen Capital or equivalent compliant descriptors pending any future charter or licensed partnership. Bank-related words in historical internal names are not used for public branding.
- Coin handling, donations, and museum operations: Collection of physical currency, tax-deductible donation treatment, museum admissions, and any commercial activities must satisfy IRS public-charity rules and Washington nonprofit statutes. Multiplier or “appreciation” claims require substantiation and clear disclaimers.
- Payment and fintech integrations: Partnerships with payment processors, X Money, or other rails must comply with money-transmission, anti-money-laundering, and consumer-protection requirements; licensed partners are the indicated pathway for any regulated activity.
- Intellectual property: Alignment with The Penny King and related media assets must be documented through IFFWA’s ownership or licensing structure.
These pathways are consistent with IFFWA’s standing practice of routing securities, entity-formation, offering, and public-claims questions through counsel before any external action.
Current status
SnapChange remains in the incubation and conceptual-development stage. IFFWA’s primary website is under construction, the founder is the principal full-time volunteer, and public materials describe the project as part of the active 21-startup portfolio rather than a launched commercial product. Development continues through internal planning, content creation, and exploratory technical concepts.
In short, SnapChange is the IFFWA vehicle for converting the residual value and cultural resonance of physical spare change—especially pennies—into digital tokens and community assets that support Freenomics education, the Soap Lake Coin Museum, local economic development, and the broader portfolio of foundation initiatives. Implementation will proceed through compliant structures that preserve the nonprofit character of the sponsoring organization while creating practical pathways for participation, donation, and value aggregation.
With gratitude, and in infinite freedom,
Alex S. Gabor Founder, Infinite Freedom Foundations of Washington State
